Our foundational multisensory approach
Our core 'Multisensory Approach' is designed to create a strong educational foundation, effectively avoiding the 'Jenga - Block effect' by addressing identified gaps and lags. This method allows for progression while simultaneously reinforcing learning and improving retention.
Structured and repetitive learning
Our lessons are explicit, step-by-step, and cumulative. Skills are practised frequently through varied and consistent repetition to build recall and automaticity.
Engaging and individualised
We use games, movement, colour, and texture to engage attention. Each approach is tailored to the learner’s strengths and sensory preferences.
Flexible and anxiety-reducing
Our flexible approach allows learners to to access content in a varity of ways, reducing anxiety , creating the 'flow' needed for learning and developing greater independence and automaticity.
Why our multisensory approach works
This approach reinforces learning by linking multiple sensory channels, ensuring that if one pathway is weak, another can support it. It's particularly useful for learners with ADHD or sensory-processing differences, making learning more accessible and enjoyable for every child.
Multisensory strategies in practice
We apply multisensory techniques across various skill areas. For reading challenges like Dyslexia, we use sand tracing and coloured overlays. For spelling, air-writing and phonetic tapping. For Maths , counters, blocks, and rhythmic counting. Attention and working memory are enhanced through chunking tasks with visual and verbal cues, building automaticity.
Tracking progress and reinforcing learning
Our assessment strategies observe participation, evaluate retention through hands-on multisensory tasks , and ask students to explain concepts using multiple modes. We incorporate technology and keep detailed progress records. Once mastered, skills are revisited less frequently, focusing on areas needing more attention. Additional tasks like reading, comprehension, spelling, handwriting, and maths are provided to consolidate learning and build automaticity.
Fostering holistic growth: Reflection and student voice
Beyond academic skills, we nurture self-awareness and motivation through reflective practices and by truly valuing each child's unique perspective. This holistic approach ensures deeper learning and personal development.
Rose bud thorn: The power of reflection
Reflection, often guided by the 'Rose Bud Thorn' method, is a core component of metacognition. It allows children to analyse their thinking and learning experiences, understand what works, and identify areas for improvement. This cyclical process builds self-awareness and improves learning effectiveness.
My voice: Igniting passion and potential
'My Voice' reflects the views, opinions, dreams, and wishes of your child. Knowing their interests boosts motivation, deepens learning, enhances communication, and builds self-esteem. By aligning learning with their natural curiosity, we create engaging educational experiences that make learning more effective and enjoyable.
